Joseph Avenue : A Work in Progress
These artworks are the result of 2 years spent focusing on 3 blocks of the Joseph Avenue Neighborhood in Rochester NY. A few of my sketches became ideas for woven tapestries, others were inspiration for watercolor paintings. I learned that Joseph Avenue is defined by its people and how they go about their day in their neighborhood. Some stopped to look at my work and share their own art stories, many smiled and said hello.
These four words represent my approach to urban sketching: stop, look, see, stay. They are woven to honor that commitment as part of my art practice I used in developing this project.
